IRC FAQ
What is IRC?
IRC is the name for a collection of independent chat networks that are linked to each other. It is different from MSN and other chat programs in that it works in real time with ‘channels’, which are managed by operators. IRC is often used to create small to medium sized social communities with a particular interest at heart. This is usually reflected in the channel name. Ours of course is #English.

How do I join?
To join in the chat you can use a webchat client or download and configure a client for personal use. Here are some of your options:
- To use the XS4All webchat click here, select ‘Other’ under the Chatchannels drop down listbox and input #English into the newly appeared ‘Other chatchannel’ input box. Press Go.
- To use a client under windows click here to download the mIRC client. After installing and running once (to fill out your nickname and e-mail adress), click this link. Type /join #English. You’re good to go.
