A story that caught my attention on the BBC News website today:

Schoolchildren in Russia are to be taught using the free, open-source Linux software in an effort to cut the cost of teaching information technology.

Within 3 years the whole Russian school system will be migrated to linux, according to the article.

I found this documentary mentioned on a Fark forum about war, death, destruction, etc. It’s a documentary about the ‘Tankman’, the lone man who stood in front of the tanks during the Tienamen protests in 1989. Powerful documentary on the spirit of the revolt as well as the courage of the protestors. Long live freedom of speech.
